2 Kings 4:1–7 (ESV)1 Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” 2 And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” 3 Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4 Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.” 5 So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. 7 She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”
FAITH, OBEDIENCE AND SACRIFICE are very important. When these three words are working in Harmony we are walking and living in Victory!
We must be surrendered in, FAITH, OBEDIENCE AND SACRIFICE!
1. THE EXAMPLE OF SURRENDER OF A SURRENDERED LIFE
2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
Matthew 8:20 (ESV) And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) And without controversy,, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
2. THE ILLUSTRATION OF A SURRENDERED LIFE
The solution to her problem was faith!
Are you and I willing to step out in faith to ask God to do something you do not have the ability to do, so that we might see his mighty work demonstrated in and through our life!
2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT) The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him……..
3. PLEASURE OF FAITH
4. PROVISION OF FAITH
The extent of the resolution of her crisis was propionate to her faith!
The amount of oil she received was limited by her lack of faith.
Hebrews 10:38 (ESV) but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”
5. PEOPLE OF FAITH
A) People of desire
Question: Why would we not have a desire to Seek Something Better!
B) People of expectancy!
C) People of Obedience
Surrender to the Lord any area, He has given us revelation.
Luke 14:33 (NIV) In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.
